A mechanical or electrical system that involves velocities close enough to the speed of light to require the formulas of relativistic mechanics is said to be ‘relativistic.' If the velocities involved in the system are far enough sub-light to be approximated by Newtonian mechanics, then the system is said to be ‘non-relativistic.'
