Neurons (also called nerve cells) are the basic cells of the nervous system. They are located in the brain, the spinal cord or ganglia. A neuron is composed of a cell body (soma) and its processes, the axon and the dendrite. Nerve cells interact with each other by nerve terminals called synapses.
